YOUR GUIDE TO CRACKING WORLD MARKETS

This privacy statement contains important information about the collection of personal data entered in Market Access Database (MADB) website pages and the further processing of data.

  • Within the MADB website, personal data is collected in three different situations:
          1) when a user fills in the Comments page section (http://madb.europa.eu/mkaccdb2/comments.htm)

  •       2) when a user asks for a personal account (this last possibility is only open to officials of the Member       States)
           3) when a user registers a complaint in the Complaint Register section      (http://madb.europa.eu/madb_barriers/complaint_home.htm)

  • When a user fills in the Comments section form, the data entered (Name, organisation, address, email) is used to generate an email. It is not stored in a database. The Comments section allows users to lodge requests related to the MADB.

  • When a user asks for a personal account, DG Trade requests personal data (Name, job title, institution, department, address, phone, fax, email address). This personal account will allow a user not located into the EU, Croatia, Turkey or the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia to have access to sections "Applied Tariffs" and "Exporter's Guide to Import Formalities" of the MADB. This personal data is stored in a database and maintained as long as the authorization to access the two sections of the MADB is valid. The complete information file is only available to the coordinator and system administrators inside DG Trade. No further details are disclosed and DG Trade staff will not divulge further information or further details of this personal data to any external party for any purpose whatsoever. Upon revocation of the account, all personal data is deleted. Only the organisation name, department and job title are kept in the database.

  • When a user fills in the registration form of the Complaint Register section, DG TRADE requests personal data. This registration is mandatory if the user wants to notify a barrier to trade and investment he encounters in third country markets. The personal data requested include: name, address, email address, telephone number and fax (not mandatory). This personal data will not be displayed publicly but stored in a database accessible only to the coordinator and system administrators inside DG TRADE. As soon as a DG TRADE case handler registers the complaint, it will be automatically published in the Complaint Register which is public. However, the personal data will not appear in the public Complaint Register. Once the complaint is deleted or archived, all personal data included in the Complaint Register is also deleted.

  • Once the complaint is registered by a DG TRADE case handler, the user will have the possibility to choose to disclose his name in the Trade Barriers section of the MADB (http://madb.europa.eu/madb_barriers/barriers_select.htm). In that case, his name will be made publicly available in the Trade Barriers section of the MADB as long as the barrier is not resolved. Once, the case is resolved, personal data will still be made available during 1 year to third parties. Once the barrier is deleted or archived, all personal data included in the barrier fiche is also deleted. )
